Rick Snow is a leading expert on Flying Eagle and Indian head cents. His books, The Flying Eagle and Indian Cent Attribution Guide, when completed will be a series of 6 volumes. As of now volume one, two and six are available with planed release dates for the other volumes shown below.
Volume 3 (1870 - 1879) est. 100 pages, is currently in production and is expected to be released in Summer 2004.
Volume 4 (1880 - 1889) est. 125 pages, is currently in production and is expected to be released in 2005. This volume will contain a grading guide.
Volume 5 (1890 - 1899) est. 120 pages, is currently in production and is expected to be released in 2006.
Volume #1 covers the years 1856 - 1858 (Spiral Binding 130 pages)
This important volume is the most detailed work on the popular Flying Eagle series ever published. The popular 1856 Flying Eagle is covered more extensively here than anywhere else. Each known die pair is listed with detailed images. Sections on the history of the development of the Flying Eagle design as well the production and collecting of these coins is included. The 1857 multi-denominational die clashes are given a detailed section with unique composite images showing the locations of the clashes. The 1858 Pattern cents, which include the popular 1858 Indian Head cents are listed with all new information. This section is the culmination of 15 years of research by Rick Snow and contains a wealth of information not available elsewhere.
Volume #2 covers the years 1859 - 1869 (Spiral Binding 130 pages)
This important volume is the most detailed work on the popular Indian Cent series ever published. The work describes the Indian Cents of the popular Civil War years and first half of the Reconstruction era. The history and events surrounding the coinage is detailed for every year. All premium varieties are listed with large images and detailed descriptions. Rarity-interest factor rating are given as well. All proofs are detailed with all known dies pairs described. Important discoveries by Rick Snow are presented in this large format book. All patterns are described and detailed like nowhere else.
Volume #6 covers the years 1900 - 1909 (Spiral Binding 124 pages)
Over 200 premium value varieties are known for the years 1900-1909! These are all detailed in this volume. Nearly every variety is illustrated. While there may not be many blockbuster varieties in these years the coins themselves are inexpensive enough that even a collector of modest means can start finding interesting premium value varieties. This guide makes making definite attributions easy.
